Child Custody Investigations
Evidence gathering to support custody proceedings, including documentation of living conditions, activities, and parental fitness.
FROM THE INVESTIGATOR
Custody Investigations Focused on the Child
Custody disputes are some of the hardest cases I take, because at the center of every one is a child whose wellbeing matters more than anyone's argument. When a parent or a family-law attorney brings me in, it's usually because there are real, specific concerns about what happens during the other parent's time — and a court won't act on worry alone. It needs documented facts.
I'm Eugene Butler, a licensed Michigan private investigator in Flint, and I gather that documentation carefully, lawfully, and with the child's safety as the north star. What that looks like in practice is observation and record-keeping. I may document who is actually caring for the children during a parent's scheduled time, whether a child is left unsupervised, the condition and safety of a home environment from what's lawfully observable, or whether someone is violating the terms of an existing order.
I record what I genuinely see — timestamped, factual, and free of spin — so it can stand up to scrutiny in a Michigan family court. I don't exaggerate, and I don't manufacture concern where none exists. A report that overreaches is worse than no report at all, because it can cost you credibility with the judge.
I work closely with family-law attorneys and will coordinate with yours so the evidence is gathered in a form that's actually useful to your case. If you don't have counsel yet, I'll still keep the work clean and court-ready. Discretion matters enormously here: children should never feel watched, and I keep my distance and my profile low so the kids stay unaware of anything and the other parent's behavior stays natural.
I'll be honest about Michigan's rules and my limits. I observe from lawful, public vantage points; I don't trespass onto private property, question children, or interfere with anyone's parenting time to provoke a reaction. The point is to capture what's genuinely happening, not to engineer a moment.
I also won't promise an outcome — what the evidence shows is what it shows, and the court decides. My responsibility is to bring you a truthful, well-documented record. If you're worried about your child's safety or wellbeing during the other parent's time, or your attorney needs an independent investigator, call or text me directly at 810-513-0662 for a confidential conversation about what's going on.
